Held during the Proclamation of the Republic holiday, the second edition of the João Pessoa International Half Marathon (MMJPA), which took place on November 17th, was consolidated in the calendar of sporting events in the capital of Paraíba and the country. In all, the race brought together 4 thousand runners from 22 Brazilian states - only Amapá, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins had no representatives.
It is estimated that of the total athletes who participated in the 5, 10 and 21 kilometers, approximately 2,500 were tourists from outside the capital of Paraíba. The race also featured athletes from three other countries: Germany, the United States and Portugal.
The route passed through several beaches (Tambaú, Manaíra, Bessa and Intermares) from one of the most beautiful shores in the Northeast, invading the neighboring city of Cabedelo. Not by chance, many corridors in Recife, Maceió and Natal - the capitals closest to João Pessoa - also included MMJPA in their calendar, making the event already one of the main in the region.
Percurso 100% plano, o atleta vai conhecer as praias de Cabo Branco, Tambaú, Manaíra, Bessa e Intermares (Cabedelo-PB), considerada a meia maratona mais rápida do Brasil.
